Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas!
We look back on 2022 as a year of recovery and renewal after the difficulties of 2020-21. God has blessed our parish in many ways this year.
Firstly, we have hired Daniel Cordes as our director of youth ministry. Daniel has established a very successful program with weekly activities for our youth. This year we had our first annual summer hike with about a dozen of our youth hiking the Resurrection Trail. I went along myself. We even had mass on the trail. It was an adventure for us all.
We also brought on board his wife Caroline Cordes as our director of evangelization. Caroline has established an adult education program and has taken the helm of our faith formation for youth. We now have a youth Catholic married couple ministering to our youth and adults.
We had our first annual Italian dinner night in November. The night was a tremendous success, with an outpouring of support from the Kenai and Soldotna communities. We raised several thousand dollars for the purchase of artwork for our parish, specifically a new statue of Mary for our Marian shrine to the left of the altar. We hope to be able to purchase this new artwork sometime this coming year.
We successfully and quickly fundraised for a new organ, which was just installed two weeks ago. It sounds terrific and we now have a magnificent new way to glorify God through song. We are very grateful to Rosemary Bird for playing it and directing our liturgical music.
We also brought back the tradition of a parish Christmas party, which just took place last Sunday. Everyone had a terrific time.
We had a number of events in partnership with the Soldotna parish, such as the parish picnic and the Resurrection Trail hike. We will continue to bring the two parishes together into a closer community as much as we can.
This Christmas we have all kinds of things to be grateful for as we give and receive new gifts from God and from each other. Many of our people have come back to regular practice of the faith after a long time away.
We look forward to 2023 with great hope and anticipation. Thank you all for your faith and your devotion to the Church and to this parish. I am very glad to be your pastor and I intend to be here for as long as the Archbishop lets me stay.

Our council has received the 2023 Bison Hunt Tickets.
If you would like a ticket(s) please let us know. We’ll begin selling in earnest after Jan. 1.
This is our council’s main fund raiser annually.
The tickets are $20 each.

Elevator Replacement ProjectWe are still in need of a new elevator.
Phil Pijahn is researching options for us.
We are estimating a little over $80,000.00 to replace the existing one
.
We currently have received donations totaling $5,525.00.
If you would like to contribute towards this expense, please drop a check in the collection and specify elevator fund.

The Men's GroupThe Men’s Group is an ecumenical group of men that meet every Friday morning at 6:30 a.m. at O’Neill Hall in Soldotna.
